A One-of-its-Kind Study Abroad Experience for Graduate Students
Join us for a ten-day interdisciplinary Catholic Studies course in the heart of the Eternal City. Walk ancient Roman roads, descend into catacombs, and stand beneath Renaissance frescoes as you explore how Christians adopted, reinterpreted, and transformed their pagan cultural inheritance. From the altar of Mithras beneath St. Clement’s to Bernini’s sculptural dialogue with Ovid, this immersive experience offers a once-in-a-lifetime chance to witness the living dialogue between faith and culture.
Highlights of the experience include:
- Private, guided site visits to the Roman Forum, Pantheon, Catacombs of San Sebastiano, Basilica of St. Clement, Borghese Gallery, and the Sistine Chapel
- Primary text discussions of Ovid, Augustine, Sallust, and more
- Seeing first-hand the ancient pagan sites still visible beneath Catholic basilicas and sacred spaces
