High School Honor Band Festival

The University of St. Thomas Department of Music, Film and Creative Enterprise is delighted to
announce the St. Thomas High School Honor Band Festival on Friday, October 11, 2024. This all-day event will be held in our newly built state-of-the-art performance and rehearsal facilities, The Schoenecker Center.

This long-standing program at St. Thomas will bring together high school students from across the state and region to play unique repertoire under the direction of our St. Thomas faculty and some of the finest professional musicians from the Twin Cities. We are also pleased to welcome guest conductor, Dario Sotelo, of the Sao Paulo Conservatory in Brazil.

Music, rehearsals, masterclasses, and clinics along with meals and a campus tour are all included in the experience. And for this, a modest fee of $10 is being asked per student. The day of rehearsals and clinics will culminate in an evening performance that is free and open to the public. We hope you will consider nominating worthy students who would most likely benefit from this festival experience.

High school directors are warmly welcome to attend a full day of complimentary professional development sessions and clinics. This day will include a luncheon with our faculty members, guest artists, and conductors, and dinner in our campus dining hall. We hope you can join us for these events, and if interested, kindly indicate on your student nomination forms.
