The graduate programs in English at the University of St. Thomas will provide you with the opportunity to study literature, writing, creative writing, publishing, and new media in a focused, enriching way. You will also have opportunities to gain work experience in editing, teaching, publishing, English pedagogy, and program administration. Our faculty members are accomplished writers who produce cutting-edge research and award-winning creative writing. They also take pride in being master teachers and mentors.

Courses and seminars are capped at 14 and 12 students, respectively, allowing for lively classroom engagement and personalized attention. The flexibility of our evening course schedule will allow you to engage in a rigorous academic program while pursuing other career and personal goals. Learn more about all our program options below.

Samantha Majhor ‘08

Samantha is Assistant Professor of English at Marquette University, focusing on Native American Literature. Her graduate work at the University of St. Thomas focused on contemporary Native American Poetry and Language Poetry.

Andrew DeYoung ‘08

Andrew is Director of Product Development at Beaming Books. He is also the author of the 2018 Minnesota Book Award winning The Exo Project (Boyd Mills Press, 2017). At St. Thomas he focused on Victorian Novellas.

Lisa Brimmer ‘18

Lisa is an interdisciplinary artist, educator, and activist. She is currently Co-Executive Director of In the Heart of the Beast Puppet and Mask Theatre and co-edited Queer Voices: Poetry, Prose, and Pride (Minnesota Historical Society Press, 2019).

Chelcy Walker ‘17

Chelcy is a Corporate Communications Associate at General Mills where she manages day-to-day editorial content publishing.
