The University of St. Thomas Department of Music, Film and Creative Enterprise is thrilled to announce the return of the St. Thomas High School String Day Festival on March 11, 2024. This event will be held in our newly built state-of-the-art performance and rehearsal facilities, The Schoenecker Center.
This long-standing program at St. Thomas will once again bring together high school students from across the state and region to work with our St. Thomas faculty, some of the finest professional musicians from the Twin Cities. We are pleased to welcome our guest composer-in-residence and the Arturo Marquez Prize winner, Nubia Jaime Donjuan of Sonora, Mexico.
The evening public performance, rehearsals, masterclasses and clinics along with meals and a campus tour are all included in the experience. And for this, a modest fee of $10 is being asked for per student. The evening performance is free and open to all. We hope you will consider nominating worthy students who would most likely benefit from this festival experience.
High school directors are welcome to attend a full day of complimentary professional development sessions and clinics. This day will include a luncheon with some of our faculty members, guest artists and conductors. We hope you can join us for these events, and if interested, kindly indicate on your student nomination forms.
