Major Johnson is an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and the Operations Officer of Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 410, at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. He is responsible for recruiting, educating, and training students from among sixteen universities and colleges for commissioning into the United States Air Force as second lieutenants.
Maj Johnson was commissioned as an officer in the Air Force through AFROTC Det 410 at the University of St. Thomas in May 2009 with a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. After attending Air and Space Basic Course at Maxwell Air Force Base (AFB), Ala., he reported to Hanscom AFB, Mass., in July 2009 to serve as an Acquisition Program Manager within the Electronic Systems Center. During this time he also completed his Master’s of Business Administration and Management degree.
In March 2013, Maj Johnson was competitively selected for a career-broadening assignment as an Aircraft Maintenance Officer with the 353d Special Operations Maintenance Squadron at Kadena Air Base, Japan, directly supporting sortie generation of MC-130P/H/J aircraft throughout the Pacific theater. During this assignment, he also attended Squadron Officer School at Maxwell AFB, Ala. Maj Johnson was then assigned to the Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) Lockheed Martin Aeronautics production facility in Marietta, Ga., from July 2016 to June 2019 as a Program Integrator and Government Ground Representative for all C-5M, C-130J, and F-22 government activities on-site.
