My background is primarily in creative writing, and I’ve published a novel, short stories, and essays. In addition to workshops, I’m also interested academically in the digital humanities, composition, literature, and graphic novels. My students routinely study Roxane Gay, Richard Rodriguez, Grant Morrison, Ian Bogost, and George Saunders among many other aesthetically diverse writers and artists. In my courses, students are as likely to write traditional essays on Jennifer Egan’s A Visit from the Goon Squad as they are to complete multimodal assignments contrasting the theoretical work of Janet Murray and Hideo Kojima’s Metal Gear Solid video games.
