Spoken narrative over historical film of early 20th century military formations and marching activities at St. Thomas.

From 1903 to Today…

Military History at the University of St. Thomas

In 1903, a military program was established at the then College of St. Thomas, and the school was subsequently declared a military school by the U.S. War Department in 1906. While the College of St. Thomas and St. Thomas Military Academy separated in 1915, the next several decades fostered the creation of military training programs on-campus within the U.S. Army and Navy.

Air Force ROTC Detachment 410 was established in 1948 and commissioned its first 34 Air Force officers two years later. Current Detachment 410 cadets take great pride in this legacy and perform in high levels of military discipline and academic success. Detachment 410 commissions approximately 15-20 Second Lieutenants for the Air Force (and now Space Force) every year.
