Moot Court Competition

The Murphy Institute is proud to sponsor the School of Law’s participation in the Notre Dame National Appellate Advocacy Tournament for Religious Freedom. Support of the Religious Freedom Moot Court Competition is a priority for the Institute as it facilitates integrated, hands-on learning and encourages dialogue among students, faculty and lawyers in the area about complex religious freedom issues embedded in the nature of the case and competition.

Each team has the opportunity to practice brief writing and oral advocacy skills by submitting a comprehensive brief responding to one side of the problem and participating in oral arguments for both sides at the competition. The oral argument and brief scores determine which teams will proceed to the semi-final and final rounds, both of which immediately follow the first two rounds of oral arguments.
