Maj Larson currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Aerospace Studies and Recruiting Officer for Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps (AFROTC) Detachment 410, at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN. He is responsible for recruiting, educating, and training students to become Air Force and Space Force officers through the AFROTC program at St. Thomas. Prior to his current role, Capt Larson served as a Flight Safety Officer and MC-130J Evaluator Pilot at the 27th Special Operations Wing, Cannon AFB, New Mexico. There he was responsible for managing Cannon AFB flight safety programs and developing skilled and professional MC-130J aviators.

Maj Larson earned his commission through Air Force ROTC Detachment 415 at the University of Minnesota in January 2014. After completing Undergraduate Pilot Training at Vance AFB, Oklahoma, he went on to Pilot Instructor Training at Randolph AFB, Texas, earning distinguished graduate honors for his class. Since then, Capt Larson has served as an instructor pilot in the T-1A and MC-130J and in other various roles at the squadron and wing level.

Maj Larson deployed in support of Operations Inherent Resolve, Freedom's Sentinel, and Allies Refuge. Most notably, he directed all MC-130J flight operations during the non-combatant evacuation of Kabul, Afghanistan in August 2021.

Maj Larson is a Senior Pilot with more than 2,200 hours including more than 200 combat hours in the T-6, T-1A, HC-130J, and MC-130J aircraft.
