Conference Opportunities
They do more than conduct impactful research. We send dozens of our majors to present research at local, regional and national conferences each year.
The Department of Psychology at the University of St. Thomas offers you numerous opportunities for a vibrant, stimulating and deep engagement of the psychology field. Our program features over 30 unique courses that cover a wide breadth of knowledge in psychology, and you will have the opportunity to collaborate with faculty on research throughout your time as an undergraduate student.
As a psychology student, you will do what psychologists do, and learn as psychologists learn. Whether you are working in a professor's lab or exploring human behavior and mental processes in the classroom, you will gain extensive first-hand psychology research experience throughout your time at St. Thomas. You will live the St. Thomas mission by thinking critically about behavior and thinking, applying this knowledge skillfully to advance the common good inside and outside of the classroom.
The areas of specialization in psychology are as diverse as human behavior and mental experience. A major or minor in psychology offers you the flexibility to choose from a wide array of coursework that matches your interests.
Our program is flexible, so we recommend connecting with a faculty member in our department so we can ensure you stay on track to graduate.
Our faculty come from a range of disciplines in the field of psychology, so our department integrates a number of perspectives into our curriculum and research.
Psychologists have a particular interest in understanding both mental and physical health, the mechanism underlying its maintenance and how to understand, encourage and attain it.
Pressing environmental issues in our natural environment pose urgent questions for psychologists as they are ultimately products of human behavior.
The important role of family in a healthy, happy and productive society is undeniable and universal. We investigate human development and its relationship to the family system and dynamics.
Understanding brain function and how it produces conscious experiences is the core of the field of psychology. We conduct research on sleep, vision, attention and memory in both animals and humans.
As a psychology student, you will have numerous opportunities to become involved in research within your courses and as members of faculty research teams.
